Welcome to BAY PARK

Voted San Diego’s most livable neighborhood, Bay Park is located just East of Mission Bay and only a few miles from the soft sand of Mission Beach and Pacific Beach. Bay Park residents love its central location, which seems to be only 15-20 minutes from anything in San Diego. Perched along the hillsides of Tecolote Canyon, this unassuming community is highly desired because of its mid century architecture, large lot sizes, ocean breezes and views; plus an impressive roster of family owned restaurants, schools, parks, coffee shops and more.

Around The Block

Real Estate flyers from the 1930’s tout Bay Park as being “carefully laid out. Lots arranged on paved contoured streets that few homes will face one another, thus affording a maximum view.”

Families have been drawn to the ocean and sunset views of Bay Park since Mission Bay Park was developed into a recreational waterpark in the 1940s, 50’s, and 60’s. In the 40 and 50’s, the areas of Morena and Overlook Heights were developed for military housing sales and development. Many historical references can be found which promote the advantage of Bay Park’s location.

Popularized by its central location, Bay Park is surrounded by numerous freeways which make it accessible to all things San Diego. San Diego Community Almanac published by the San Diego Union-Tribune in 2018, describes “Bay Park & Morena” as “Mid-city oasis is close to Mission Bay and Tecolote Canyon Park.” The neighborhood’s name was shortened to Bay Park during the post-war mid-century housing boom. The boundaries have been magically extended north to Balboa, east and south to Tecolote Canyon into geography previously known as Clairemont. From the beginning, real estate agents have played a seminal role in the expansion of Bay Park’s limitless boundaries… and increased property values.

What To Expect:

This bayside community balances its family friendly vibe against an outgoing pace.

Bay Park is one of San Diego’s most highly desired neighborhoods, but still seems to remain unknown to many, even native San Diegan’s. Besides the central location, Bay Park residents can enjoy a wide variety of options from Mission Bay to Western Hills Park, Tecolote Canyon Hiking or Biking Trails take you past the Championship Banners on lining the fences at the Tecolote Baseball fields. Hang with friends at the Bay Park Tennis & Raquet club or have a fresh roasted coffee at one of the many boutique coffee shops which line Morena Boulevard. If you’re hungry, restaurants such as Luce and Bay Park Fish Company continue to deliver compelling cuisines in a laid back environement, typical of most Bay Park hangouts.

The Lifestyle:

Activities revolve around the MISSION BAY SHORELINE and plethora of OUTDOOR activities.

From jet skiing in Mission Bay, to bike riding through Tecolote Canyon, having a picnic at Western Hills Park, or playing tennis at the Racquet club, the laidback and outdoor lifestyle draws residents and people from all over the city daily. In July you can watch the fireworks from Sea World and play in the World Championship Over the Line Tournament. And later? Dinner and drinks at Luce or fire up a prime cut of steak on the BBQ from Siesel’s Meat Market.

Unexpected Appeal:

A booming coffee and beer scene, Bay Park is home to BirdRock Coffee Roasters & Ballast Point Brewing.

Many of Bay Parks business, restaurants and shops are owned by Bay Park residents beaming with pride. As for Bay Park’s Restaurant Rows, it’s a source of great enthusiasm as more and more people discover Bay Park. These restaurant rows can be found all along both West Morena Boulevard. Until rather recently these nightspots have been well under virtually everyone’s radar for being an eclectic place to enjoy lively bars, cocktail lounges, and lots of great restaurants. Now, many in the know opt to come here rather than battle the terrible parking conditions and the crowds in Little Italy, Mission Valley and Pacific Beach.

The Market:

Filled with some of the city’s most SOUGHT AFTTER listings, IT’S NOT UNCOMMON FOR A PROPERTY TO RECEIVE OFFERS IN THE DOUBLE DIGITS.

This is some of San Diego’s prized real estate, with median prices hovering around $1 million. The higher up you ho on the hill—or the better the ocean view—the pricier the property. Drive up and down the coveted “month streets” and you will find styles ranging from mid-century architectural masterpieces to brand new construction.
